About Counselling

Beach at Sunset

Sometimes our worries and problems may be hard to talk about with the people closest to us. You may worry about whether they will understand and keep what you say private, or the problems that you are facing may feel overwhelming. That is when talking to a Counsellor may help.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy that can be helpful for a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low self esteem, bereavement, relationship problems, and many more.

I am an Integrative Counsellor who uses a range of counselling techniques and traditions in order to ensure that my clients benefit from an approach that is designed to meet their individual needs. My practice is predominantly person centred in that it is grounded in empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard however I draw on other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic theory where appropriate.

I am fully insured and as a registered and accredited member of the BACP, I abide by its code of ethics which ensures high standards of ethical counselling practice.

As my client you can expect to find a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore any thoughts or feelings that have been causing you emotional pain, confusion or difficulty. I work closely with each client to support them in identifying areas of their lives that they might like to change and together we can explore what might help to bring about those changes.

In my experience, some clients may just want a safe, therapeutic space to explore their difficulties at a level of depth that, in itself, can enable change and growth to occur. For others, they may have specific goals such as learning to cope with anxiety for example and this is why an integrative counselling approach can be very effective as the therapy is tailored to the specific needs and preferences of the individual. I have undertaken training in delivering therapy online so sessions can be offered face to face or via Zoom, depending on the preference of the client.

Counselling sessions are available for children, young people and adults.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are charged at £75 per session.

Sessions on Zoom are 50 minutes long and are charged at £75 per session.
